An elaborate scene of the Nativity.
The baptism of Jesus.
Silver-gilt, 62 mm. (2.5 inches). German school.
Very fine, , with its original, pale-lemon gilding.

Notes: Although unsigned, the style and treatment of the composition place this medal firmly in the hands of a German medallist. The fields have been lightly and skillfully chased
The delightful addition of a winged putti's head, decorating the upper-most register of each side, is believed to be unique to this medal. It once carried on the top edge a mount for suspension.
