If you simply require a casual, off-the-cuff valuation, this is a service that cannot be provided without seeing the item at first hand, and you would therefore be best advised to approach a local dealer or auction house in your area.

If you have a medal or a collection of medals that you do wish to sell, then your call or e-mail is welcomed, but please note that an offer cannot be made without seeing and examining the item(s). Paul Kruger, South African War: Statement of Determination

417. Paul Kruger, South African War: Statement of Determination, 1899
Bust of Kruger, left.
A standing figure attacked by a tiger-like animal, a broken dagger in hand.
By Francois Rupert Carabin (signed: R Carabin).
Silver. 51 mm. (2.05 inches) in diameter.
Extremely fine
Notes: Paul Kruger (1925-1904) was a South African statesman and president of the Transvaal 1883-1900. He went to Europe in order to garner support for the Boer cause, which is commemorated on a number of different medals.
Francois Rupert Carabin (b.1862) was a sculptor, medallist and gem-engraver, born at Zabern in Alsace. He trained as a gem-engraver, and then worked as a wood carver, and since 1889 principally as a sculptor. This element of his work is clearly visible on the reverse of this medal, the design of which is executed in considerable relief. The French legend - Our Resistance Will Astonish the World (trans.) - is a rallying cry for the Boer cause. The medal is a great rarity and the first example to have been noted.
