 2099. Benjamin Franklin, 1777 Bust of Benjamin Franklin to left, wearing a fur hat and an open coat with button chemise and cravat. . B. FRANKLIN. .AMERICAIN. Th legend separated by one plain and four decorative stops. Below the bust 1777. On the truncation, an armorial badge as well as a date and signature (incuse) NINI F. 1777. Reverse plain, but for an aperture near the top, extending through to the top edge, for the purpose of threading a hanger. By Jean-Baptist Nini (1717-86). Terracotta. 114 mm. in diameter. Extremely fine with an attractive light-brown colour, and free from edge frits and relief damage. Sorry this item is sold. References: Baiardi & Sibille 94.
