Notes:

Flying from St John's Newfoundland to Connemara, Co. Galway, Ireland in June 1919, John Alcock and Arthur Brown made the first non-stop Trans-Atlantic flight. They were treated like heroes, receiving several awards, including £10,000 from the Daily Mail, and were knighted a few days later by King George V. In July 1919, they flew to Manchester, where they were given a civic reception and awards to mark their achievement, as noted on this rare medal.
