Notes: Federico Garcia Lorca (1899-1936) was a Spanish man of letters, who died at the hand of an assassin's bullet; the subject today of many biographies, his reputation has grown considerably since his death. This extraordinary medal, in many respects more a piece of sculpture, was struck by the French Mint in 1951. It has a weight of 700 grammes.
