Reference:5396 Charles I halfcrown, Parliament issue, 1645

Equestrian figure of Charles I, left / scrolled shield.

Mint mark (R) at the top on each side.

Type 3a3.

Condition: Almost Very Fine

Notes:

The Parliament coinage is characterized by ragged and irregular flans, on which the legend is not entirely present. The coin being offered has been struck on an unusually round flan, on which the entire legend can be read. There is weakness in the centre of the equestrian figure, but the king's portrait and the head of the horse are clear. The coin has a pleasant, light olive cabinet toning and is superior to the two examples in the Brooker collection.

Acquired in 1960 from B.A. Seaby and with its original priced ticket.
