Notes:

A pleasing, lightly toned medal, made from two plates skilfully joined at the edge by a narrow silver band, and rather scarcer than the entirely struck type.

A lightly engraved inscription around the arms and top edge, reading TVRPIN 1814, adds a most interesting dimension to the medal.

The George III Indian Peace Medals served as diplomatic offerings, to be held in considerable esteem by the recipients, as is evidenced from images of them being proudly worn.

Against this background, the presence of a personalized inscription is not entirely surprising, unusual though it certainly is.  

The undated George III American Indian Peace Medals were distributed over some fifty years, and certainly up to the 1820s, when stocks had ebcome exhausted; thus for a small number of years, they ran parallel with the George III dated issue of 1814.
