Reference:4334 King George V and the Treaty of Peace for the First World War, 1919

Large bust of King George V, crowned and draped, to left The standing figure of Peace, facing, a dove perched on her raised right hand, an olive branch in her left hand. A wreath around, WELCOME PEACE 1914 1919. By Frank Bowcher. Silver. 64 mm. (2.55 inches) in diameter.

Condition: Extremely fine.

Notes:

British-made tribute and peace medals struck for the signing of the Armistice in 1919 are not known for their quality of die-engraving and production. However, this is an exquisitely designed medal, struck by Spink, no doubt at great expense, the reverse beautifully balanced and very touching.
