Reference:5295 Lyons Teashop, Fortieth Anniversary, 1934

A representation of a 'nippy' advancing to left, feathered wings on her feet. /

Inscription on central tablet recording the location of the first Lyons teashop in Piccadilly, London.

By Percy Metcalfe?

Bronze. 51 mm.

Condition: Nearly Extremely Fine, a small edge bump to left.

Notes:

Up to the early 1970s, the Lyons teashop, or corner house, was a familar site on the streets of many cities in Britain, staffed as they were with ever-efficient waitresses, or 'nippies' as they came to be called; always fleet of foot in their distinctive serving aprons and peaked headwear, as shown on the medal.
