A pair of positive working proofs - obverse and reverse - for William Wyon's celebrated medal, forming two separate pieces made in electrotype form, each beautifully gilt on their front sides.

This portrait of Queen Victoria would come to grace the first regularly issued postage stamp, the 'Penny Black' in 1840.
