Medals

Reference:4185 Ludwig, Prince Regent of Bavaria, 1913

Large uniface portrait plaque of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria, his bust to right, uniformed, and wearing orders and medals. By Hugo Kaufmann (signed on truncation: HUGO KAUFMANN 1913). Copper. 230 mm. (9.2 inches) in diameter.

Condition: Extremely fine, with an attractive even, medium-brown patina; and a cast of outstanding quality.

Notes: Hugo Kaufmann (1868-1919) was a prominent Munich sculptor, who also executed a number of portrait plaques and medals. The detail in this portrait of Prince Ludwig is rendered with a most delicate and sensitive hand.
