Amongst the earliest medallic portraits of the Queen and a superb representation by Percy Metcalfe, a late work of the artist, elements of which recall his pre-war Art Deco style.

Weighing 123 grammes and struck on an unusually heavy flan, 5 mm. in depth, it is remarkable that the RSA chose to award such a medal in silver at the height of post-war rationing.
